Πτώχευσε δυστυχώς μεγάλος tour operator (updated)


- Ολόκληρη η επιστολή προς τους Έλληνες ξενοδόχους

Σε συνέχεια της χθεσινής μας αποκάλυψης για την πτώχευση του OAD Reisen να προσθέσουμε 2-3 πράγματα που μάθαμε αργά το βράδυ. 
Συνολικά αυτή την περίοδο στην Ελλάδα δεν βρίσκονται περισσότεροι από 300 πελάτες του εν λόγω ταξιδιωτικού οργανισμού, με το μεγαλύτερο μερίδιο, περίπου 150, να βρίσκονται στην Κρήτη. 
Ωστόσο, λόγω του "ειδικού βάρους" του συγκεκριμένου tour operator, που ιδρύθηκε το 1924, έχει ξεκινήσει συζήτηση για την επαναλειτουργία του, δεδομένου ότι η οικογένεια που έχει την ιδιοκτησία του, είναι μία από τις πλουσιότερες της Ολλανδίας και η απόφαση να κλείσει ήταν επειδή δεν "κερδίζει" και όχι λόγω αδυναμίας στήριξής του. 
Ωστόσο ας ελπίσουμε ότι οι οφειλές του προς τους Έλληνες ξενοδόχους είναι μικρές... 
Με δύο τρεις μεγάλοyς ομίλους που μιλήσαμε, μετά από έλεγχο διαπιστώθηκε ότι τα ανεξόφλητα υπόλοιπά του είναι μικρά
Στο μεταξύ έχει σταλεί και σχετική επιστολή προς τους Ελληνες ξενοδόχους με οδηγίες.
Η επιστολή έχει ως εξής:



Dear Hotelier,

Today we regretfully had to apply for bankruptcy of the OAD Group. A terribly difficult decision, but unfortunately we were left with no other option.

As was announced last year, in 2012 OAD deployed a new strategy to further prepare OAD for the future in this rapidly changing world.

This transformation was based on two main approaches:
-          to focus even more on online sales through the newest technology, that had already been installed
-          to optimize its own travel agencies and gradually reduce their number

After presentation of the plans within the company last year we went full ahead with their execution.

Meanwhile the economic climate in the Netherlands deteriorated and the present crisis has had a negative effect on the number of bookings for the travel industry and therefore for AOD too. This meant that the Rabobank demanded an extra capital injection that could not be met by the present shareholders so foreign investors were looked for.
Despite the fact that a solution was close at hand, a race against the clock ensued and it turned out to be impossible to meet the deadlines and demands for capital made by the bank in time.

This led to the situation where we could not but apply for OAD to be declared bankrupt.

As said, a very difficult and emotional decision. Not just because of the business’ family character and its nearly 90 years history, but above all because we realize that this decision will affect many people. All of our staff, all our suppliers and not least our customers.

It is terrible and we still cannot believe it. Today we informed our staff about the bankruptcy and understandably that came as a shock to everyone. Yet everyone also understands that now we need to be there for our customers. All around the world people right now are travelling with OAD and they are our prime concern.  Also we will clarify the situation to those customers who have made bookings with one of our organizations as quickly as possible. Trustees Jacques Daniels and Jeroen Stekelenburg will inform the Travel Compensation Fund Foundation (Stichting Garantiefonds (SGR)) about the situation today and look for the best solution for and communication with all those concerned.

Consequences for you

Unfortunately we are as yet unable to inform you of the consequences the bankruptcy will have for you because this will first have to be discussed with the SGR and the trustees. Of course the necessary means of communication are being prepared and we hope to be able to clarify matters to you as soon as possible.

Communication

On www.oad.nl we will continually publish the most recent information. In order for things to run as smoothly as possible we kindly ask you to contact your usual contact person only in case of the utmost urgency.

It is really awful. We still cannot believe it. We are very sorry to have to impart this news to you and offer you our sincerest apologies for any damage this bankruptcy may cause you.

All we are left with to do is to thank you for the many years we had the pleasure of co-operating with you.
